The last Oktoberfest of the Cincinnati Oktoberfest season is the Donauschwaben Oktoberfest. This festival (the only Oktoberfest in the area held in the month of October) takes place on the first weekend of the month and coincides with the end of the big Munich Oktoberfest in Germany. Held on the grounds of the club, the Donauschwaben Oktoberfest is known far and wide because of its family-friendly atmosphere. Foods offered include brats, metts, hot dogs, potato pancakes, sauerkraut, goulash with Spätzle and boiled potatoes, green beans with ham, suckling pig or chicken with mashed potatoes, and homemade Schwaben sausage with potato salad, as well as desserts such as homebaked tortes and pastries, pretzels, and gingerbread men. Imported beers (Warsteiner, Spaten, and Franziskaner, just to name a few), wines, and other drinks are sold inside in the Festhalle as well as outside in the Schauplatz. During the three-day festival (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), the numerous visitors are entertained by authentic music directly from Germany and Austria, as well as many various dance groups, singers, and other entertainers, which contributes to the continuous "Gemütlichkeit."
